STAR WALK XXXI

Sunday, Oct. 13, 6:30-8 p.m. (Check-in @ 6 p.m.)

A Night Under the Stars! 

  • Waxing Gibbous Moon; Full Moon/Super moon-October’s Moon Phases;
  •  Orionids Meteor Shower; where are the Comets and Asteroids?
  •  Mercury and Venus are the prominent planets but set early;
  •  See the Milky Way’s Summer Triangle and other asterisms;
  •  Witness the Late Summer and Fall (plus Circumpolar) Constellations.

Objectives:  

  • Learn basic beginner astronomy facts, concepts, and techniques.
  • Locate and understand featured celestial/astronomical events.
  • Locate and identify common Constellations and Asterisms.
  • Learn to use a Star Map and a Planisphere.
  • Bring Binoculars for easy “naked eye” Deep Space Objects.
