Due to heavy wind and rain anticipated for San Marcos from Friday, Feb. 17 through Sunday, Feb. 19, the Richmar Park grand opening event originally scheduled for Friday, Feb. 17 from 5 to 7 pm has been postponed.

The park will open to the public beginning the week of Monday, Feb. 20 and a new celebration event will be scheduled for mid-March.

Once open, Richmar Park will transform a 1.8-acre area into a recreation space that will feature a children’s play area, picnic and social spaces, walking paths, a performance area and a central shade structure.

Funded by a $2 million statewide parks grant, this new park will add to the city’s 34 parks and brings to the total developed parkland space in San Marcos to 275 acres.
