Purpose

The Commission shall have the power and duty to make recommendations and advise the City Council in matters pertaining to the creation, operation, maintenance, management and control of the community recreation programs, of playgrounds  and indoor and outdoor recreation, activities, and facilities.

          Membership:    Seven regular members and two alternates, as appointed by the City Council

   Meeting Time/Location:    Third Wednesday of each month, 6:00 pm/ City Hall - Council Chamber

                  Length of Term:     Four Years

 Responsible Department:    Parks & Recreation Department

Qualifications/Conditions:    Application must reside within the city limits and must be qualified elector of the city

                    Compensation:    Chair - $60 per meeting/Commissioners - $30 per meeting

          Financial Disclosure:     Must submit Conflict of Interest Statements (FPPC Form 700)

                               Training:     City staff provides an initial orientation and ethics training in accordance with State law

Trails Day

27th Annual San Marcos Trails Day

Saturday, June 2 | 9 am to noon (sign-in at 8:30 am)

Discovery Lake/ Double Peak

Please join us in celebrating San Marcos parks and trails by enjoying guided hikes.

Hikers & Walkers can choose from an easy, family-friendly three-mile hike that will visit Discovery Lake, Discovery Creek, and Cima Drive trails, an educational two-mile interpretive walk along the Discovery Creek trail, or a challenging, seven-mile hike will climb more than 1,000 feet to Double Peak Park.

The kid's bike ride will include a two-mile kid's bike ride around Discovery Lake and adult supervision is required.

 

Equestrian Riders can do either a three-mile or six-mile route after meeting at the Ridgeline Trailhead at 102 San Elijo Road.
