All types of fireworks are prohibited in San Marcos. This regulation includes sparklers and party poppers. It is also illegal to transport, sell, possess, store or set off fireworks within San Marcos city limits.
Law enforcement agencies throughout the County are enforcing a zero tolerance policy for illegal fireworks. Persons caught with illegal fireworks are subject to arrest, citation and/or fines. Additionally, anyone causing a fire through the use of fireworks will be held financially responsible for all suppression costs.
According to the United States Fire Administration, hospital emergency rooms treated an estimated 9,800 people for fireworks related injuries in 2007 alone.
All citizens are encouraged to enjoy the professional fireworks display in San Marcos at Bradley Park on the Fourth of July.
