Policies and Guidelines of the Parks & Recreation Department

The policy and guidelines are for reference only.   All supplemental information and applications can be found on the specific program area webpage. 

 

POLICIES

Parks & Rec Payment, Credit, Refund Policy - This policy covers payment procedures, credits on account and refund procedures for all Parks & Recreation program areas.

Commercial Use Policy-  This policy establishes a process for activities and services provided by groups/individuals who receive a form of payment as fee.  It also addresses photography and non-mobile vending in the parks.

Indoor Facility Rental Policy -  This policy establishes parameters and guidelines for the indoor rental of City owned buildings and facilities.  This policy explains limitations on bookings at all rentable facilities including fees, deposits, recurring bookings and the application process.  This policy is in conjunction with the Facility Rental Rules and Regulations.  

Memorial Bench & Tree Program/Policy-  This program establishes parameters and guidelines for individuals or groups to purchase a bench or tree in honor of their loved one.  This program will offer a meaningful way to remember someone while contributing to the enhancement of the City's parks and public open spaces.  

Helen Bougher Veterans Wall of Remembrance Policy- This policy establishes the parameters and guidelines for individuals to purchase available tiles to commemorate San Marcos residents who have honorably
served in the United States Armed Forces. Due to the limited number of tiles, at this time, only applications for individuals who are MIA, KIA, or POW will be accepted.

GUIDELINES

Wheel Park Requirements - Provides guidance aimed to create a safe and enjoyable park experience for the community and to reduce the frequency and severity of injuries associated with the operation of park amenities designed for bicycles, skateboards, and scooters. 

Dog Park Rules -These guidelines aim to create a safe and enjoyable dog park experience for the community and to reduce the frequency and severity of injuries associated with the design, construction, and operation of dog parks.

ACCIDENT/ INCIDENT REPORT FORM

Parks & Rec Dept. Accident/Incident Report Form - This form is used to document an injury, property damage or incident for which managing staff needs to be notified.  It is also used to document "near misses" so they can be discussed as lesson learning opportunities.

PARKS & RECREATION SCHOLARSHIP

Applications must be received at the San Marcos Community Center during their normal business hours.

San Marcos Scholarship App - Provides information, guidelines and criteria regarding the Parks & Recreation Scholarship program.
