DISPOSABLE FOOD SERVICE WARE ACCESSORIES

Disposable Food Service Ware Accessories are single-use, disposable products. All Disposable Food Service Ware Accessory products are required to be comprised of a plastic alternative material. Plastic alternative products are made of non-plastic materials that are either recyclable or compostable.

Examples of Disposable Food Service Accessories include utensils, straws, condiment cups, cup lids, stirrers, splash sticks, cocktail sticks and toothpicks.

Phase 1 Service Requirements

Dine-in: Disposable Food Service Ware Accessories are required to only be provided to customers upon request or at self-serve stations. 

 

Third party delivery orders: Platforms are being required to provide options to request Disposable Food Service Ware Accessories and condiments, and Food Service Providers must customize their menus to provide list of available Disposable Food Service Ware Accessories and condiments for customer to select.

 

Take-out orders: Employees may provide these products upon request or offer.

 

Drive-thru orders: Employees may ask a customer if they want Disposable Food Service Ware Accessory products if they are necessary to consume the prepared food.

DISPOSABLE FOOD SERVICE WARE

Disposable Food Service Ware products are defined as single-use disposable products for serving or transporting prepared food. Disposable Food Service Ware are required to be recyclable or compostable. They may be made of a plastic material, as long as
it is recyclable.

Examples of Disposable Food Service ware include plates, bowls, cups, wraps, wrappers and trays.

Prepared Food may not be sold to customers using Disposable Food Service Ware made of Expanded Polystyrene in the City of San Marcos.
