The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program is a federal housing and community development program administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The City of San Marcos is an entitlement jurisdiction, which means the City receives a CDBG grant annually to assist with housing and community development activities.

CDBG funds are used to conduct activities that assist low- to moderate-income residents, households and communities. Activities must meet one of three National Objectives:

  1. Serve low-to moderate-income residents
  2. Eliminate or mitigate slums and blight
  3. Address an emergency need
