NEW FEE UPDATE:

Transportation Permit single use fees have increased to $16.00 as of January 6, 2020.

Transportation Permits are issued 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and alternate Fridays from 7:30 a.m.- 4:30p.m.  Please allow 24 hours for permit processing.

 Please email your Transportation Permit requests to the City's Engineering Division at engineeringdivision@san-marcos.net or call 760-744-1050 ext. 3252 if you have any questions.  Make sure you include the following with your request:  Transportation Permit Application, Credit Card Payment Form and Current Insurance.

When & Why Transportation Permit Are Necessary?

Transportation Permits allow for the monitoring of truck traffic throughout the City and are required on all vehicles exceeding the limits of a legal load, as defined by the California Vehicle Code (CVC).  The dimensions of a legal load are:

14 ft. 0 in. Height                           

 12 ft.  0 in. Width

65 ft. 0 in. Length 

80,000 lbs. Gross Weight

 

Insurance  Requirements

Prior to issuance of a Transportation Permit, the permittee shall furnish insurance coverage effective throughout the term of the permit. (See minimum insurance requirements.) 

Permit Fees & Payment

The City of San Marcos accepts payment for permits by credit card over the phone, by email or in-person.  Please call Engineering at (760) 744-1050 ext. 3252.

$16.00 - Single Trip   

$100.00 - Annual Permit
